Local Natives at The Showbox
We went to the Showbox at the Market last weekend for Local Natives, The Union Line, and The Love Language. There.Are.No.Words to describe the beauty of what took place in that venue. It was completely sold out. Everyone knew the words, the crowd was grooving to every song and it was pure gold! Well done!

Spin Magazine's Bumbershoot Kick-off Party
A couple weeks ago, we were lucky enough to go to Spin Magazine's Bumbershoot Kick-Off party at The Crocodile in Seattle.
We arrived as nervous nellies, were checked in at the door ("yes we're on the list") and were given 2 drink tickets. The Crocodile was a great environment to hold this kind of party and even though it wasn't as packed as we thought it would be it was still somewhat of a good time.
Copies of the newest issue of Spin Magazine were strewn about on a tables and at the bar, free to steal at the end of the night. A photographer was creeping around taking pictures of the party-goers (my photo was a MAJOR reject! and I ruined the chance of ever being photographed again for the rest of the night.)
Videos of Spin cover shoots were being played on a giant screen and right next to that Sune Rose Wagner sat at his MAC computer playing songs for everyone to enjoy.

The party lasted only two hours and while we had a few glasses of punch (thanks to meeting the Mike's Hard Lemonade sponsor who generously provided us with more drink tickets), and listened to great music, the party, overall, could have been better. More people, better set-up for the guest DJ, and an overall better vibe could have made this party such a great time...but it was a bit lackluster.
We were lucky enough to chat with Sune at the end of the night and he echoed our disappointments with the party. But besides our mutual let-down with Spin we chatted about NYC, music, watching movies in hotel beds, living in Seattle, The Raveonettes next tour, and Facebook. What more could you ask for in a conversation with a sexy rock star?
Thanks Sune! You can put us on the list anytime...

Our personal YouTube Video Collection!
So we've finally gotten around to uploading the videos from our years and years of concerts. It's crazy to think how many days and sleepless nights we've spent rocking out to amazing bands...but of course, it's always well worth it.
Even though there's lots more videos to upload, here's some of our favorites so far!

Sexy Men and Rockin' Chicks
Two weeks ago we trekked out to the beloved Gorge in George, Washington to rekindle our love affair with Kings of Leon. It had been since Austin City Limits last year that we've seen our favorite men play live and damn it, it was about time to have a musical orgasm all over again. They played old favorites, the hits like "Sex on Fire" and "Use Somebody" (at which point, all the douches came out of the woodwork and treated the Gorge like their own personal dance club, complete with man-on-man dancing and the elusive "douche dance" which is rarely seen, unless you spend time at said club.) and new songs ("Mary" and "Southbound") from their upcoming album.

The very next weekend we headed to Seattle for the Capitol Hill Block Party! Although there were tons of great bands playing Friday, Saturday, and Sunday we only went for Sunday's show and it was for one reason only: The Dead Weather.

The boys pleased all of our senses and and in true rock and roll style, they ended their set with a display of fireworks. Kudos boys, it was truly a pleasure. Come back anytime.

I don't have to explain the appeal of them. Jack, Allison, LJ, and Dean are the quintessential rock stars. They exude sex appeal and can rock the shit out of anything; including a make-shift stage on the edge of a city block. It was a hot Seattle day, people were literally packed on top of each other, but once that music started, nothing else mattered.

New Bands!
I've come across some new bands today. Some very very good bands. Some of them I've never heard of before, others I've been aware of and am just now getting around to listening to them.
Here are my new favorites:
The Crookes, hailing from Sheffield, England, these guys are certain to be the next big thing. Favorite track? "Yes, Yes We're Magicians."
Stornoway. Another great British band. I swear there's something in the water over there. Check out the track "I Saw You Blink."
The Like. These girls are like listening to a modern day version of The Ronettes (of course, they are a tad bit edgier.)
Favorite track: "Wishing He Was Dead" and "Release Me."
Warpaint. This is one of those bands that I've constantly heard about but hadn't actually listened to their music. I'm glad I finally did. These girls are awesome! And they are playing The Paramount Theater in Seattle with The XX in September!
Favorite Track: "Beetles"
Smith Westerns: Sounding like a mix between Marc Bolan and The Strange Boys, these Chicago boys are something special.
Favorite Track: "Be My Girl"
Crystal Stilts: I've never heard of these guys before but they are an eerie, psychedelic band from NYC.
Check out "The sinKing" and "Crippled Croon."
Those Darlins: A trio of bad-ass chicks from Tennessee. With songs like "Red Light Love" and "Wild One" I get the feeling that they could put away plenty of whiskey and break a lot of hearts.
Dum Dum Girls: Touring with the Crocodiles this summer and Vampire Weekend and Beach House this Fall, these girls are getting bigger by the minute.
Check out: "Jail La La"
Magic Kids: Another great Tennessee band, while there is only one song available on their Myspace page, "Summer" is soon to be one of my new favorites.

What's this little gem I stumbled upon this morning?
Alex Ebert (Edward Sharpe) is back in his former band Ima Robot??
Well it appears that Alex has returned to his former band as a little side project. They just released this song titled "Ruthless"
